You’ve probably heard quite a bit regarding the health benefits that are associated with walking, right? Unfortunately, many people think it’s a lonely, boring activity. Why not make it a fun way to lose weight and take advantage of the many health benefits that come with going for a stroll.

Make it fun! Try some of these ideas:

  • Bring a friend! Exercise is always more fun when you have a friend to join you. When you’re engaged in a conversation you may not even notice how far you’re gone or how long you’ve been walking.
  • Make a game of it! Take an uncharted path or walk until you see five “For Sale” signs. Play a new game every day.
  • Walk to the music!cBring your favorite playlist and walk to the beat of the music. Speed it up to a fast song and slow it down a bit to a ballad.
  • Window shop while you walk! You’ll save money and you’ll also get some great exercise as well!
  • Bring your furry friend! Instead of just letting the dog out the back door, put your four-legged pal on a leash. Let him/her take the lead and just try to keep up! You’ll both enjoy it while you get more fit.
  • Switch it up! Change the times when you walk so it’s not such a routine. Morning stroll one day, on your lunch break the next day and then after dinner on the following day.
  • Reward yourself! Monetary or other – to make walking rewarding as more than just exercise!

Walking can be an enjoyable exercise to help you relieve stress, lose or maintain weight and give yourself a fantastic feeling of accomplishment. And if you can, walk to our office for your regular chiropractic visits to help you remain healthy – physically, emotionally and mentally.
